We The People

We Elect Leaders to Serve—Not to Build Their Private Brands

On December 1, 2025, We the People Club welcomed John Fleming, candidate for Charlotte County Commissioner, to speak with local voters about what real public service should look like. In this two-part video conversation, Fleming addresses why it matters that candidates actually live in the communities they want to represent, how they qualify for the ballot, and growing concerns about fair and honest elections. He also walks through his research on Charlotte County’s exploding budget and what rising costs mean for residents, especially those on fixed incomes. Watch the videos below (Part 1 & Part 2) to hear his answers in full and decide for yourself who is truly prepared to serve the people, not their own brand.
